Used for both Kissimmee and Orlando, the 407 area code has an extensive history in Florida. Created in 1947, the 407 area code shared the Florida region with the 305 area code for nearly forty years. In 1988, area code 407 started covering Palm Beach County and areas north of Miami. However, in 1996 the 407 area code started focusing mainly on the Orlando and Kissimmee portions of Brevard County.
