Trenton is the capital of New Jersey and is the county seat of Mercer County. Trenton has a humid continental climate, meaning hot, humid summers and cold, damp winters. The three bridges that connect Trenton to Morrisville, Pennsylvania, are the Trenton-Morrisville Toll Bridge, the Lower Trenton Bridge, and the Calhoun Street Bridge. Going back in history, in 1719, the town was called “Trent-towne,” after William Trent; the name was later shortened to Trenton. Trenton was the site of the Battle of Trenton, in which George Washington had his first military victory. Trenton became the state capital of New Jersey in 1790 and was incorporated in 1792.

Trenton has a population of 84,913 and the racial makeup of the city is 52.01% African American, 33.71% Hispanic, 25.56% White, and 1.19% Asian (2010 Census). Unfortunately Trenton is among the top ten most dangerous cities in New Jersey.

Atlantic City is located in Atlantic County in New Jersey. Atlantic City is a resort city that is known for its beach, boardwalk, and casinos. The city is featured in the U.S. version of Monopoly. Going back in history, in 1853, the first commercial hotel was built. One year later, the city was incorporated, which was the same time the Camden and Atlantic Railroad train service started. The Atlantic City Boardwalk opened in 1870 and was the first boardwalk in the United States. By 1874, the rail was bringing almost 500,000 passengers a year to the city. By 1878, massive hotels opened up all over the city and a second railroad line was constructed to transport tourists to the city. In 1883, David Bradley produced salt water taffy. Tourism was at its peak in the 1920s, which was considered Atlantic City’s golden age. The 1930s to the 1960s was the nightclub era. During the mid to late 20th century, Atlantic City was hit with poverty, crime, and economic decline; the majority of hotels were either shut down or converted. To revitalize the city, casino gambling was approved in 1976.
