Area code 603 is the area code for the entire state of New Hampshire. Created as one of the original area codes, area code 603 was put into service on January 1, 1947. Area code 603 is located in the Eastern Time Zone and covers 10 counties of New Hampshire.

Manchester is located in south-central New Hampshire along the banks of the Merrimack River. Manchester is one of the county seats of Hillsborough County and is equidistant to Concord and Nashua. Manchester has a humid continental climate, meaning warm, humid summers and cold, snowy winters. Going back in history, the area was settled in 1722 by colonists and then chartered in 1751 as Derryfield. In 1810, Derryfield was renamed Manchester. Nashua is the second most populous city in New Hampshire and is one of the county seats of Hillsborough County. Nashua is situated at the confluence of the Nashua River and Merrimack River. Like Manchester, Nashua has a humid continental climate. Going back in history, the area was part of a tract of land in Massachusetts called Dunstable. In 1741, the disputed boundary between Massachusetts and New Hampshire was resolved when the township of Dunstable was divided in two. In 1836, New Hampshire renamed their half of Dunstable to Nashua.

Today Nashua has a population of 86,494 and the racial makeup of the city is 83.4% White, 9.8% Hispanic, 6.5% Asian, and 2.7% African American (2010 Census). Nashua is a great place to live and is considered a safe city.

Nashua’s economy is centered on three main commercial districts: Downtown Nashua, Amherst Street, and the South Nashua Commercial District. There are a number of technical firms located in Nashua, including Nashua Corporation, which was a top producer of floppy disks in the 1990s. Concord is the capital of New Hampshire and is the county seat of Merrimack County. Concord is situated along the Merrimack River above Manchester and has a humid continental climate. Going back in history, the Province of Massachusetts Bay granted the area as the Plantation of Penacook in 1725. Settled between 1725 and 1727, the town was incorporated as Rumford in 1734. Eventually it was renamed Concord in 1765 by the governor of New Hampshire. In 1808, Concord was named the capital of New Hampshire. Today Concord has a population of 42,695 and the racial makeup of the city is 91.8% White, 3.4% Asian, 2.2% African American, and 2.1% Hispanic (2010 Census). Concord is among the safer cities in New Hampshire. New Hampshire’s only law school, the University of New Hampshire School of Law, is located in Concord. Points of interest in the city include the New Hampshire State House, the Carter Hill Orchard, the McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center, and the Capitol Center for the Arts.
